7 Card Stud and its versions are probably the wideliest dealt poker variants in the casinos nowadays. The traditional 7 Card Stud is played by 2-8 players, which are all dealt seven cards.
Each player is dealt seven cards: three - face down and four face up. At the end of the round, the player who has the best poker hand wins. To create your best five card hand you may use any combination of the seven cards you are dealt.

The popular 7 card stud has both a high and a low version. 7 card stud high or low is played pretty much as 7 card stud with the only difference that the highest and the lowest hand are both winners and they split the pot. In most cases, these games have rules according to which the low hand has to consist of five cards that are 8 or lower, therefore, the best low hand would be an A2345.

7 card stud high or low is an excellent choice for a gambler. It’s great because even if you don’t choose from the beginning of the game which hand to qualify for, and let the “cards speak”, if you win either the high or the low hand, or why not, both, you win a part of the pot.

Still, if you’re a confident and determined person, you can choose the “declare” playing method and state from the beginning which part of the pot you’re going for: the low end, the high end, or, why not, the whole pot. But be cautious, because if you declare at the beginning of the game that you go for the entire pot and, by the end of the round you only win half of it, then you end up losing both halves. So don’t be hasty when this game has such generous offers and high winning odds, since there are basically two possible winners per hand!

7card stud hi/lo, also known as seven card stud high-low 8 or better as the low cards must be lower than 8, as the name implies.

Position poker is another 7card stud variant, played with the same rules. It is a special game because eights are considered wild. As for wild cards, each player has a specific wild card given according to their position from the dealer; for instance, for the first player sitting to the dealer’s left, the aces are wild, for the player to his left, twos are wild, and so on.

When a player gets his particular wild card in spades dealt down, he wins half the pot.

If a player is dealt his wild card in spades up, the cards are collected, and dealt again to the players who hadn't folded up to that point.

The several betting rounds that occur in a poker game are relevant for the amount you can win at the end of each round.
